Ricky Scearce was a long time educator and coach in the Katy ISD who passed away May 4, 2012. He worked at Mayde Creek Junior High, Taylor High School, and Memorial Parkway Junior High.

Ricky was a graduate of Katy High School class of 1969. He was an active basketball official (Rice Belt) and softball umpire (TASO) and spent many seasons serving on the board of Katy Youth Basketball and Katy Girls Softball Association.

This scholarship was set up to honor the memory and legacy of Coach Scearce,
Since 2013, $163,500 in scholarships have been awarded to graduating Katy ISD student-athletes furthering their education.
Eligibility Criteria
-have a 2.5 GPA or higher
- embody the following characteristics:
honor, service, courage, leadership
- participate in at least one varsity sport

Each year, a golf tournament, silent auction/raffle, and dinner is held to raise money for the scholarship.
Through sponsorships, donations, playing a round of golf, or joining us for dinner, you can help the youth of Katy offset some of their college expenses.
